Our Dog Loving Family
Hi there! My name is Jon Bachelor, and in my little family here in Escondido are my wife Christine, daughters Emma (age 13) and Bella (age 8), and a super-sweet pug named Roxy (age 9). We have decided that we would really love to add a bigger dog with a little more energy to come join our family and be showered with love from all of us!
We are an active family who enjoys camping, playing, biking, beach days, parks, and more. Roxy gets along with every dog and human she meets, and every single organism under our roof absolutely loves dogs! We are really looking forward to finding our new furry family member. Want to know a little bit more about us, and what it might be like to live with us as a dog? Read on!

Where We Live
We've got a great place for dogs here! The back yard was one of the primary features that attracted us to our home. It is completely fenced in, and has lots of space to throw a ball or just romp around. We have added a doggy-door to the house, so our dogs can go outside to get some fresh air or relieve themselves any time they need to. We also live right on the corner of a golf course, and in the mornings and evenings it is a popular place for neighbors to walk and play with their dogs. Our back-yard fence has a gate that opens straight up to the golf course for play time! There is even a park just up the street for additional options.
A snorting family pug... Who would love a friend!
In 2010, an absolutely amazing 1 year old pug, Roxy, came into my life and has been a rock solid companion ever since. She has all the sweetness of the universe, and is as friendly as she is mellow. Some of her very best friends in life have been a yellow lab (we lived with him for a couple of years), and a golden retriever, who was a frequent visitor. Roxy came to me as an under-socialized dog, who was terrified of pretty much everyone she met. We worked hard to overcome this fear by meeting as many people as we could find! Roxy learned that the people she met were super nice, and gave her all sorts of positive attention, so now she warms up to new people in just a few minutes. She is a happy girl with every human and dog she meets!
These days, Roxy lives along with me, my wife, and our two amazing kids, age 13 and 8. She absolutely loves having so many people to snuggle and play with. She's just missing one last ingredient: A furry buddy with whom to share all the fun and love! Below are some photos of Roxy, and all four of her human companions.

History: It all started with Jessie
Growing up, my family was not ok with adding a dog to the mix, no matter how much my sisters and I begged. I have always been a big lover of all animals, and I grew especially fond of dogs I met throughout my childhood.
Most would be right not to trust a young guy still in college with a dog, let alone a puppy, but I was determined to prove my worth. I read book after book on breeds to make sure I found the right one to match my own personality and lifestyle, and then I read even more books on how to raise and train a puppy. As I was about to graduate college, I knew I was about to start a life of my own, and so in the winter of 1995, I adopted a wonderful black lab puppy who I named Jessie, just 7.5 weeks old at the time. Then and there I made a commitment to myself to live a life that would be compatible with having dogs be a part of my family, and for the past 23 years I have enjoyed the heck out of living with dogs. They become a significant part of my family, and they are tremendously important to me. While dogs certainly require lots of work and attention, the love, warmth, and humor they bring into one's life is more than worth it! Jessie is no longer with us, having passed away from old age in 2009, but her memory will live on forever. Here are some great photos of her and some of her friends we met during her 13.5 years!
